Swings set the pace for Summer

To say the South gave America the front porch may be a bit of an overstatement. By the mid-19th century, houses across the country had covered overhangs on the front of homes. In many places, these porches were ostentatious decorations to the architectural style of the day. In the South, they were a necessity.
